SA-2 Exceeding expectations

We are staying in a waterside guesthouse in Simonstown, and in the morning the view from the room is fabulous.

Today we have a ride that includes 3 climbs and most of it is along the coast.  We set off straight from the guest house and almost immediately start the first climb.  The views are amazing, particularly once we get to the top.

After being much slower up the hill than the others and starting to worry about holding the group up, it was great to have a chat with Bevan, our guide about the use of the support bus.  I said that I didn't want to use it unless I was sick or the weather was terrible, but if there was any risk that I might hold the group up and something would get missed, then could he please let me know and I would happily jump on the bus.  He said he would do that and it was good to have this understanding, because now I could "enjoy" cycling up the hills, without feeling under any pressure.

The next climb was Chapman's peak, which was quite a renowned climb.  However the views were so incredible you hardly noticed the climb.

Finally, we climbed Sugar Bush hill, which is the last climb of the Argus ride.  It wasn't too bad, but after 60 miles in the heat, it might be tough!

Today was stunning, I had absolutely no expectations for this trip, but even if they had been very high, they would have been exceeded!

Finally, we ride to the funky Sweetest guesthouses in Cape Town, and have to execute some pretty tricky parking manoevres to get the bike trailer loaded away.

Bev helps by holding up the traffic (there is no traffic!)

We then head to an African specialist meat restaurant, where I had the Warthog Ribs and Stuart had Kudo steak.  Interesting, but probably wouldn't repeat the experience!
